About Us

Our School

Our story began in 2012. Today, our school is the first preschool recognized as an International School by the Ministry of Education of Ethiopia. We continue to welcome families from all around the world.  Brana's current class has kids with over 30 different nationalities. However, it isn't just the diversity of the school that makes it international. We have a global perspective in everything we do. Every child leaves our school ready to embrace the world, not just with a firm grasp of languages but also with respect and understanding for different cultures.

Our school is located in the old airport area within walking distance from the International Community School (ICS). Our 1400 square meters compound features indoor classrooms and plenty of space for outside play.

Our Curriculum

At Brana Play School, we believe that children learn best through play. We use a US preschool curriculum designed to organize childrens’ learning through peer-based activities and intentional interactions with their teachers.  Our curriculum challenges children at their developmental level while allowing kids to be kids. Our Baby and Teddy bear class curriculums include STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math), Language & Literacy, Physical Development, Music & Movement.  Panda and Polar Bear class curriculums include STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math), Language & Literacy, Physical Development, Interactive Reading, Music and Cognitive development.

Our Philosophy

Our program is specially designed for one to six and half year old children. We recognize that each child is unique and special, and will develop at his or her own pace. We truly believe children can learn through having fun. We provide a nurturing environment – full of energy, imagination, creativity and playful interactions. All the activities are age-appropriate with flexibility built in for every child to adjust to their new ‘playschool life’.

Our values include a commitment to ensuring equal opportunities – no child is excluded from any activity on the grounds of age, gender, family status, disability, color, ethnicity, culture, religion or belief. We provide a safe and loving environment for their first learning experience.

Daily Schedule

Our daily learning schedule is based on monthly and weekly plans with different themes throughout the year (e.g. colors, shapes, body parts, animals, transports, music, instruments, professions, nationalities, sports, food, plant growth, technology, numbers, letters and so on). Each theme is developed through a range of activities such as art and crafts, different types of games, gardening, music and dance, information technology, etc.  The plans may be changed over time according to children’s interests, demands and needs. However, there are certain fixed activities to maintain a structured routine for the children, such as circle time, snack break, lunchtime, free play time and outdoor play time.
